The Jardim dos Frangos barbecue restaurant was founded in 1974 as a small “eating house.” It was founded in 1974 by Galicians, one of whom was José Gil Alvárez, affectionately known in Cascais as Pepe, until 2020, when he passed the baton to his eldest daughter.

Today, under her management, Jardim dos Frangos' mission is to offer genuinely Portuguese food, made with passion and simplicity, but always with an eye on the times. The tradition of Portuguese cuisine is at the heart of the restaurant, with an emphasis on irresistible dishes prepared on a charcoal grill—a unique and unmistakable flavor.
